The practice of Environmental Assessment Practitioners (EAPs) in South Africa is regulated by EAPASA established as a Registration Authority which registers Environmental Assessment Practitioners (EAPs) based on the set of core competencies under the Section 24H Registration Authority Regulations of the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA), Act 107 of 1998, as amended. The specialists serving at Mielelani are also registered with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions for their respective professions.
It has become illgeal for EAPs to practice in South Africa without registering with EAPASA. At Mielelani, our lead EAPs are registered with EAPASA and all other qualifying scientists are in the processes of registering with both EAPASA and SACNASP. The Scietists are encourgaed to attend technical developments workshops and to also further studies with institutions of higher learning
